    Flagship Campaign

    Congo’s Minerals.
    Congo’s Future.

Congo’s natural resources should become a foundation for peace, industrialisation, innovation, employment and shared prosperity. This is what the campaign asks the world — and Congo — to do about it.

    THE ARGUMENT

The world needs Congolese cobalt, copper, lithium and coltan for its energy transition. Congo needs something in return that is more durable than a shipping manifest: peace, plants, skills and pay slips.

For a century, the value of Congolese geology has been assembled somewhere else. That is a policy outcome, not a law of nature. The campaign exists to change the terms of the bargain: to make responsible sourcing verifiable, to make processing a condition rather than an aspiration, and to make Congolese women, young people, firms and communities shareholders in what the ground produces.

    SEVEN DEMANDS

    What we are campaigning for.

    01

    Responsible extraction

Due diligence enforced where the metal is refined, not only where the ore is dug. No legal market for minerals that finance armed groups.

    02

    Local value creation

Every major mining agreement should carry a financed, dated processing commitment — anodes, cathodes, sulphates, precursor.

    03

    Community benefit

Community development funds that are audited and published, and consent processes that happen before the bulldozers.

    04

    Transparent supply chains

Public smelter lists, interoperable traceability and origin data that a journalist or a cooperative can actually check.

    05

    Industrial development

Power, corridors and clusters sequenced together — Maluku, Musompo/Kolwezi and a Lobito-side logistics and food node.

    06

    Technology and skills

Named Congolese understudies, technical institutes beside the plants, and manuals in the languages of the site.

    07

    Congolese participation

Local content on substance: 51% ownership plus the capability to do the work, verified on beneficial ownership.

    HOW TO TAKE PART

The campaign is a set of commitments, not a hashtag.

    For governments and institutions

    • Harmonise due-diligence expectations so suppliers face one coherent rule
    • Tie critical-minerals partnerships to processing, protection and jobs
    • Fund traceability and ASM formalisation as public goods

    For companies and investors

    • Publish smelter lists and mine-site assessments
    • Buy from verified Congolese suppliers and pay within 30 days
    • Treat human-rights and tailings exposure as credit risk

For the diaspora and the public

    • Join syndicates and returnships instead of one-off donations
    • Mentor a Congolese SME with a first purchase order
    • Carry the argument into your own institutions and media
